2610-12/24 & Cisco pre-standard PoE

I recently got a hold of a 2610 12/24 poe switch and wanted to move some Cisco APs to it.  I did a bit of research and found this document saying the AP1230 series is supported so I thought I was good to go...

http://www.hp.com/rnd/support/faqs/2610.htm#poe1

Through the CLI I did enable pre-standard detection but when I tried to hook an AP up, nothing.

I did see there was another post on this a week ago of another person having issues with AP1231's, but they didn't mentioned the 12/24 unit, only the 24 and 48 units.

Does anyone know of any options to get this functionality working? That link I posted did mention 3af guidelines for which wire pairs were used, and polarity.  Could cat5 cables be repunched to work with an alternate setup?

I know the Catalyst 2960 is a possible option from Cisco, but that money is just not floating around right now...

Thanks

Cisco (OLD old standard)   48 V DC RX RX TX DC-  DC-  TX DC+ DC+ Older Cisco polarity is REVERSED

Cisco (NEW old standard)  48 V DC RX RX TX DC+ DC+ TX DC-  DC-  New Cisco is IEEE compliant

Re: 2610-12/24 & Cisco pre-standard PoE

I assume you've read http://www.hp.com/rnd/support/faqs/2610.htm#poe9 and the following entry about how to allow it. It seems likely that a custom cable which crosses over the power pairs would work in your situation.

My experience suggests that pre-standard PoE support is very hit & miss. I have some pre-standard NEC phones that work very well on 2600 PoE switches (with or without the pre-standard power option enabled), but not at all on 2610 PoE switches (even with the pre-standard power option enabled).
