2920 as core switch to internet

Hello,

Can sometell me if's possible to use the 2920 to route to the internet?  I have a static IP form my provider and use the 2920 as my gateway. ZDo I just use the IP from my provider as the gateway?

Thanks

Re: 2920 as core switch to internet

You could setup a VLAN for the internet connection. use the static IP as the new VLANS Default gateway and then setup routing accordingly on the switch with only the port connected from your ISP's router as a member of this VLAN.

If you are going to do this I would recommend that you harden your switch so not have have, or allow, any connectivity from IPs outside of your LAN VLANs - this doc outlines a few tigns to also be aware of with internet facing switches.
