5 meter SFP+ DAC, 8212ZL

Hi..

Is it true that a 5 meter SFP+ cable for a 8212ZL isn't available?

It looks like only 1m, 3m and 7m are..

I've got a NetApp storage system which needs to be connected.

NetApp doesn't support lengths above 5 meters... 1m and 3m are simply too short for this enviroment..

The ProCurve switches require optics and DACs with the ProCurve vendor ID (v2) embedded. That mean no third party ones will work.

The ProCurve DAC cables (SFP+ to SFP+) available are:

• 1m
• 3m
• 7m
• 10m
• 15m

You probably need to find out what the problem with longer cables might be, eg active vs passive. It is possible that a 7m cable will work anyway (the SFP+ standard doesn't stop at 5m).

The 7m ones seem to work just fine.. all good during testing and viewing logs etc... 

Im just trying to keep things vendor supported from A -> B.. :-)
