5406 configuration
I'm new to HP ProCurve switching. We just bought a multitude of HP 5406's for our high school district. I have a question about routing and switching.
Basically, I have a school/branch on our network which has 4 VLANS. I want the braodcast traffic on VLANs 1,2 and 3 to stay local. So, I want to ROUTE the traffic on those VLANs back to our Cental DISTRICT NOC which has an HP 8206 at the core. However, I want VLAN 4 traffic to traverse the "WAN" back to the DISTRICT - extending the broadcast domain to include another side. So VLAN 4 traffic needs to be Layer 2 - VLANs1,2 and 3 Layer 3. Can I do that? Can I mix layer 2 and layer 3 traffic on one 5406/8206? If so, could someone give me a sample config? I appreciate any help you can spare. Thanks in advance!
