Any stacking issue while using different firmwares in Stack Switches
Hello.
I am using hp (Aruba) 2920-48G for stacking. I am currently using 3 switches with Firmware Version-- WB.16.02.0010. I need to replace one switch and install a new one with Firmware Version-- WB.16.03.0003.
Is there any compatibility issue while using different firmwares in stack switches. Can anybody guide regarding the same.
Thank You

Re: Any stacking issue while using different firmwares in Stack Switches
Hello Sareesh,
If the replacement switch uses a different version of software, it will be updated automatically to match the software
version running on the stack, you don´t have to downgrade the replacement switch. Detailed information can be found in the "Advanced Traffic Management Guide" on page 276, "Replacing a failed stack member". Download-link:

Re: Any stacking issue while using different firmwares in Stack Switches
Hi! also a good source of information about Backplane Stacking (2920/3810M) is this Switch Stacking - ArubaOS-Switch presentation and also this older (but good) HP 2920 Switch Series stacking Technical white paper (4AA5-7121ENW, published March 2015) focused on HP 2920. The most updated should be the Aruba Backplane Stacking and VSF Best Practices on ArubaOS-Switch Technical White Paper instead.
