Applying QoS to softphone traffic connected to ProCurve and Aruba switches
Hi all. I am managing HP ProCurve and Aruba switches. I have softphones, which are running on computers, connected to these switches. I wanted to know if it is possible to prioritize the softphone traffic using QoS? I see that QoS can be applied on the interface but this would prioritize both softphone traffic and data traffic from the computer, effectively cancelling out the priortization.

Re: Applying QoS to softphone traffic connected to ProCurve and Aruba switches
Hi ,
Applying Qos on the Interface would be applied both the data and Voice traffic and hence you would see the same priority for both .
I hope there is separate Voice Vlan and Data Vlan in place if not please create separate voice vlan and tag the uplink for the vlan on the switch and traffic gets priortised by vlan
vlan 10
name "Voice"
untagged 10
ip address 172.18.x.x x.x.x.x
qos priority 6
tagged x-x
Below are references for Qos set up with Procurve & Avaya

Hope this helps revert if any further queries
