Are 5406 zl (J9642A) and 5406R zl2 (J9821A) compatible with J8702A and J8706A

Are 5406 zl (J9642A) and 5406R zl2  (J9821A) compatible with J8702A and J8706A?

My customer need to purchase new 5406 zl (J9642A) or 5406R zl2  (J9821A) and move the both modules (J8702A and J8706A) to install in 5406 zl (J9642A) or 5406R zl2  (J9821A).

Is there any compatible paper for the reference?

Modules supported on HP (now Aruba) 5400 zl Switch series are also known as v1 zl or v2 zl Modules...v1 zl Modules for sure are not supported on newer HP (now Aruba) 5400R zl2 Switch series, v2 zl and specifically v3 zl2 Modules are instead both supported on HP (now Aruba) 5400R zl2 Switch series (the Aruba 5400R zl2 equipped only with v2 zl Modules or equipped with a mix of v3 zl2 and v2 zl Modules will, in those cases, work in "compatibility mode" and its features set will be the one provided by that compatibility mode).

Please refer to HP 5400 zl and Aruba 5400R zl2 Switch series QuickSpecs to be sure which switch series supports which exact Modules (v1 zl, v2 zl and/or v3 zl2).

Thank you for your reply. I have reviewed the quickspec. It does not cotain any v1 modules in there. Does it mean it do not support on 5406 zl? How can I be sure? Is there any reference information?

Pretty sure those two v1 zl Modules (J8702A and J8706A) are supported on HP 5400 zl Switch series...it's a matter to find an old [*] QuickSpecs document (first references go back at least to 2006, so 11 years ago): probably HP, revising the QuickSpecs along the years, simply removed or, better, superseded them (so replaced) by newer and better performing ones (indeed read their EoS announcement here).

There are some good official HPE explanining documents about v1 zl, v2 zl and v3 zl2 Modules and their relationship with 5400 zl and 5400R zl2...also there is a document about differences between those Modules' versions with regard their usage on newer Aruba 5400R zl2 Switch series (Feature Set: Compatibility mode versus v3 Mode Only).

[*] an HP ProCurve 5400 zl Switch series's QuickSpecs reporting the J8702A and J8706A as supported (early 2006) can be found here: please note how the ver=1 on the URL goes up to ver=41, what that means? it means that 41 QuickSpecs revisions were published between early 2006 and 2016 (inbetween HP changed into HPE lately)...last ver=41 is the latest published QuickSpecs for the HPE 5400 zl Switch Series.
