Can i do port based QoS on a procurve 2530
Hey everyone,
I have a question that could be relativly simple to answer, but here is my situation. We are a small ISP that has started selling VoIP solutions, and the voip boxes we are using have a public IP address on them. So the modems from us have 2 ports, one port goes to their internal network (to their router) and another goes to their phone box. The problem that we are recieving is that when the customers internal network hogs all the bandwidth the phone system doesnt have sufficient bandwidth and it causes a world of voice issues. To fix this we would like to plug a procurve into the modem, then set QoS on the procurve so that the port going to the phone system is heavily prioritized over the port off the procuve going to their internal network. I did some research and people were saying that you can use strict QoS, but i cant seem to find any good guides. Does anyone have any tips or guides on how to configure this thing?
Thanks

The QoS probably wouldn't do anything on their home network as it is on your link where the bottleneck occurs. You need to implement QoS on the modem as it hands traffic off to your network.
And I'm not sure using "7" is such a good idea. The default queues are usually setup to give best performance to "5", which is the usual value for voice.
