Connecting 4200 vl switches together

Hi,

What is the best way to connect a new 4200 switch to an existing one? Right now I have a 2 switches trunked together but in future wil need to connect 2 more 4200 switches.

Thanks,

Rick

Re: Connecting 4200 vl switches together

There are two ways to do it:

1/ Mesh: each switch is connected to each other switch. (Spanning tree is enabled of course)

2/ Hub & spoke: one switch is the "core", each other switch connects to the "core".

It depends on what your ethernet traffic looks like and how to want to manage it.

It also depends usually on the available structured cabling - if these switches are dispersed, then you would rarely have structured cabling available to go with a mesh topology.
