we got the connection issue between HP5406 and Avaya G700 Media Gateway. there is only one default vlan, whichever ports i used, we cann't connection to avaya gateway, we cann't reach the gateway. when we test the connection with command "ping ", it's always "time out".
if we use 5406 connect to
D-link Hub ,then use the hub to connect the gateway, the connection is ok. i don't know why ?
actually, this issue from my customer. does everyone meet this problem before ?
just check the following configration from hp5406:
hostname "sha01switch"
time timezone 8
module 1 type J8702A
module 2 type J8702A
interface B23
no power
exit
interface B24
no power
exit
ip default-gateway 10.112.200.2
no timesync
snmp-server community "public" Unrestricted
vlan 1
name "DEFAULT_VLAN"
untagged A1-A24,B1-B24
ip address 10.112.201.101 255.255.0.0
ip igmp
exit

SolutionI believe this is a known problem. It is due to the Avaya NIC being out of specification.
Many switches can handle NICs that are out of this particular type of specification, but unfortunately the 5400 cannot.
The workaround is to put a device in between.
