disable VLAN or full VLAN pass passthrough
Hi
Currently I use a HP Procurve 2610,
other switches might be possilbe
I have a VLAN-Trunk with more than 256 VLANs
and I did not need the VLAN funtionallity of the Switch.
Is it possilbe to deaktive VLAN-funktionallity
to simple forwarding the VLAN-Trunk?
bye
Tim

Re: disable VLAN or full VLAN pass passthrough
if you are not using GVRP, then just don't tag the VLANs on the uplink/trunk ports.

Re: disable VLAN or full VLAN pass passthrough
Hi
INFO:
On my Testing-Switch I did the following previosly:
HP-3800-48G-4SFP+(config)# max-vlans
<16-2048> Enter an integer number.
HP-3800-48G-4SFP+(config)# max-vlans 2048
-> then reboot
HP-3800-48G-4SFP+(config)# gvrp
Current VLAN limit exceeds GVRP's allowable 256 limit.
so I think gvrp will not work?!?
Tomorrow I will try to set all ports to untagged.
bye

Re: disable VLAN or full VLAN pass passthrough
Hi
I cleaned up the vlan config
and set all ports to untagged.
vlan 1
name "DEFAULT_VLAN"
untagged 1-52
no ip address
exit
no tagged frames pass the switch!
any further ideas?
bye

Re: disable VLAN or full VLAN pass passthrough
If you only have a single (untagged) VLAN, then the switch will only process untagged packets. If you want it to process tagged packets, you will need to tag them on the trunk port.
