E3500YL Ports Disable Themselves
This may be similar to http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/E-Series/Incompatibility-between-HP-Procurve-2510-with-Linksys-WAP4400N/td-p/2383223.
We have a hardware device which contains a Trendnet TE100-S80g. When I patch this device into our E3500YL, the port on the HP switch disables itself. I can enable the port again, but this issue occurs on any port that I plug this device into.
I don't see anything in any logs on the switch about hwat happened or why it disabled. If I plug the device into a different switch on our network, it works just fine.
The device is just a switch with nothing else connected to it. So I don't think we have a loop. The only other thing we have that might be a problem is 802.11x authentication, but that should stop the connection from working.
If I plug my laptop or another switch in the E3500YL, it works fine.
Since the logs are not indicating any problem, I'm at a bit of a loss as to the source. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: E3500YL Ports Disable Themselves
Hello,
can you send the following outputs:
sh spanning-tree <port>
sh port-access authenticator <port>
sh loop-protect <port>
sh int brief <port>
The output will give additional information what is going on.
Cheers,
Michael

Re: E3500YL Ports Disable Themselves
This problem can be related to UDLD (Uni-Directional Link Detection) feature. Are the ports disabling for a specific timeframe and returning to on, or do you have to enable the ports manually? Did you check if the log shows some error related to link violation or something like that?

Re: E3500YL Ports Disable Themselves
The problem is we aren't able to get any logs off the switch. We have a case open with HP about this.
I will try and attach the other items mentioned shortly. The other device has a defective switch as it turns out. So we'll see if things work better once I have a working device. We also have HP in this weekend to fix other issues with our core equipment. So this may resolve itself. I will post back once I know.
