E8212 - Redundant controller
I am speccing out an E8212 for our new building's network. I am debating whether or not we need the redundant controller for > $4K. Does anyone have any pros/cons of getting it? I've never dealt with HP network equipment, but I've heard good things. Is there any reason to purchase it other than as an expensive insurance policy?
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: E8212 - Redundant controller
Hi,
Only some things to evaluate :
- Do you have support contract with on site replacement ?
- Do you have a software to automatically backup your product ?
- If a failure occured, after how many times the cost for the redundant module will be less expensive than the loss of productivity for your enterprise ?
Regards,

Re: E8212 - Redundant controller
Just another thought; if you invest in a E8212, and inted to actually utilize the full capacity of this switch, then you're pushing quite a bit of data. Then in my book, 4k is practically free compared to the man hours and productivity loss that would occur if this switch were to fail.
