Firmware-Update
Valentin Hoefer

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
We have a large number of different HP switches at our administration offices. I noticed now that I can import a firmware update on some ("older" ???) switches by TFTP Upload (eg with HP 2810 48G, J9022A) and again in the same way on other (eg HP 2530 24G, J9776A or HP 2920 48G, J9728A). Although my TFTP server receives a request from the switch, the transfer does not start and the error message "Time out" follows. Is there something special to consider in the "newer" models?
Best regards,
Valentin Hoefer

Re: Firmware-Update
Hi Valentin Hoefer,
Checked if port 69 is open on the PC for tftp, I would check by disabling the firewall if enable to test if there is something firewall is blocking. Probably port 69.
I am an HPE employee

Re: Firmware-Update
Dear SantoshPG,
thank you very much for your answer.
The port 69 must be open because my TFTP server (= my pc) get a request from the switch for the firmware-update. And I can upgrade the firmware on some of the switches in this subnet and on other I can't. Very strange...
