Help ! abnormally high cpu on my 2520-24-poe
Helo,
I have about 50 full series procurve switch, switch on all these 3-5% CPU load except our POE switch that have a CPU load of between 50% and 70% and during the night of charges to 90%. have you had this problem?
is there a cli command to list processes with their CPU?
(equivalent Linux command top)
P.S. This thread has been moevd from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to ProCurve / ProVision-Based. - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: Help ! abnormally high cpu on my 2520-24-poe
You might want to enable 'task-monitor cpu' which will then show you (entering 'Show CPU' the different processes).
How long does this CPU get elevated to around 90%? Minutes? Hours?
Just enable logging in your Telnet/SSH application and capture the output every 5 minutes or so.
You can do so by issuing the command 'Show CPU' (after having issued the 'task-monitor cpu' command) followed by a 'rep del 300'
This will grab the 'Show CPU' automatically every 5 minutes.
So connect to the box over Telnet/SSH and get into enable mode. Enable logging in your Client Telnet/SSH and issue:
#task-monitor cpu
#show cpu
#rep delay 300
Please post the result over here.
Thanks.

Re: Help ! abnormally high cpu on my 2520-24-poe
-------+--------------------------
8.9 | Idle
1.5 | Sessions & I/O
19.4 | Hardware Mgmt
70.1 | System Services
What's System Services ? why 70.1 % ? How solve this problem.

Re: Help ! abnormally high cpu on my 2520-24-poe
Hi, I had the same issue with my 2520-8-POE in a small office, SW S.15.09.0022 all ports are utilized however no actual payload would be transmitted. CPU util kept over 95% (92% used by System services).
The trick (config)#spanning-treen did it for me. Now CPU averages at 7%.
Thanks!

Re: Help ! abnormally high cpu on my 2520-24-poe
Hello guys
I have a problem with a 2520-8-POE. I have the following :
100 percent busy, from 7 sec ago
1 sec ave: 100 percent busy
5 sec ave: 100 percent busy
1 min ave: 99 percent busy
% CPU | Description
-------+--------------------------
71.4 | Idle
0.4 | Sessions & I/O
4.1 | Hardware Mgmt
6.1 | System Services
18.0 | IP Host/Routing
And it's already at 99/100%, but the detail show that idle is about 65/70% so which is right ?
The version is S.14.03
Thanks !
