How do I make a HP 3800 switch connect with an Extreme Networks summit 200 switch
Hi, This is my first port and need some help with figuring out how to ge my HP 3800 switch to connect and pass traffic with a Extreme networks summit 200 switch using layer 3 routing on both switches via a point to point vlan across a 100mg circuit between two buildings. The poiint to point vlan is configured as foloows on the HP 3800.
vlan 66
name p2p
ipaddress 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.252
tagged 24
IP routing is enabled on the switch
The Extreme switch is configured as follows
vlan p2p
ipaddress 10.10.10.2 255.255.255.252
tag 66
port 20 tagged
IP routing is enabled on the switch
the networks we are trying to connect are 192.168.1.0/24 on the HP side on the default vlan and 192.168.2.0/24 on the extreme side on its default vlan.
the extreme has ipforwarding enabled to allow the two vlan to communicate.
i guess my question is can these two different switches even communicate and pass traffic with each other and if so what am i missing on the config to get this to work. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: How do I make a HP 3800 switch connect with an Extreme Networks summit 200 switch
Assuming that the link is up & working and that 10.10.10.1 can ping 10.10.10.2 ...
All yo ushould need to do is add a static route at each end along the lines of
ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.1
at one end and
ip route 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.2
assuming I've got them the right way around :-)
You'll need at least one device in a subnet to get the L3 interface on the switch to come up and then you shold be able to pass traffic back and forth as you will have a destination route and a return path.
