How to use WinSCP to upload firmware on Procurve 3500 switch

Hello,

I have locked down my 3500 switch ie SNMPV3 only, SSL only Web management, IP SSH File transers. Question, is how do I use WinSCP to update either pri or sec firmware on the switch? Documentation is a little vague on this and a simple copy/paste doesn't seem to work.

Thanks,

Hello,

you are not alone: Lars had the same issue. See his solution for this:

Re: How to use WinSCP to upload firmware on Procurve 3500 switch

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the update. I did in fact reade this post before. However, his solution is via Linux. Our company doesn't have any Linux workstations to use.  So I am currently at a stand still at this point.

Seems like I may have to disable ip ssh filetransfer and re-enable tftp client/server to be able to upgrade the firmware and disable them when completed.

Another note, can I use PCM+ to update the firmware even though TFTP is disabled?

Thanks,

I see that Putty has a SCP tool. question is, how do I determine which firmware(Primary/Secondary) to update with the utility?

Re: How to use WinSCP to upload firmware on Procurve 3500 switch

So with the link the Michael provide above, I was able to us Putty's PSCP to upload firmware to the primary image location. However, when I attempt to upload the firmware to the "secondary" location, it does not update the secondary firmware. It's confusing, because it goes through the whole upload process and reboots, but it doesn't update. I have tried rebooting with the "Reload" command, but still no luck.

Please advise.

Forgot to mention that I did this on an old 2810 switch I had laying around. IP SSH/File transfer were enabled on the switch. I was tring to upgrade from N11.06 to 11.52
