HP-5412Rzl2 dns forwarder

Hi I have serval VLANs with ip routing enabled.  I can ping all subnets and the Internet using ip address's. (for example 4.2.2.2 and 8.8.8.8). Of course I'm using the vlans ip as my gateway on my pc cllient. I would aslo like to use the vlans ip as my dns server on the pc client. I issued  ip dns server-address priority 1 8.8.8.8  and restarted the switch. I can still ping out to the net but it doesnt resolve.   Not sure whats going on?  thanks
