Hp Procurve 2650 (j8165a)
I was wondering if someone could please help me out.
We have a Hp Procurve 2650 Network Switch running firmware H.08.83.
I have downloaded H.10.119 firmware from the website tryed to update but there is no update function within the console of the switch and I cant seem to update via Telnet using Xmodem.
If someone could please advise I would be very grateful.

Re: Hp Procurve 2650 (j8165a)
Hello
Is there a reason why you don't use a tftp server? You can easly download a free one (like Tftpd64).
Then open the CLI interface of the switch and enter following command:
copy tftp flash <IP address of TFTP server> <case-sensitive firmware filename> <pri | sec>
Kind regards

Do you know the IP address of the server? and filename or is this information visible when ftping in

Re: Hp Procurve 2650 (j8165a)
Hello
It is really not that difficult.
- download tftp server
- assign ip address on your switch (for example in vlan 1: 192.168.1.1/24)
- assign an ip in that subnet to you pc (for example 192.168.1.2/24)
- connect your pc on a port in vlan 1
- If you can ping each ohter you are on the right way!
- then login to your switch in the CLI
- execute following command: copy tftp flash 192.168.1.2 H.08.83 primary
and you should be good to go
Kind regards

Re: Hp Procurve 2650 (j8165a)
Well, i don't know what tftp server you are using, but make sure you select the right folder in that server.
You should go in the folder where your software file is located. Also don't forget to add the extention of the filename, i don't know it by hard..
And for the record you need to use the laptop ip adress in the command, so 192.168.1.40 in your case.
Kind regards

Re: Hp Procurve 2650 (j8165a)
Well in the tftp server you can browse to your folder and use the copy button to copy the exact filename, then you can use that exact name in the command

Re: Hp Procurve 2650 (j8165a)
Ive tried the copy function but that doesnt seem to do anything.
Please see print screen can you check that i have set this up right as i would of thought there would of been a transfer screen when sending the file across to the switch
Sorry about this.
