HP ProCurve 6120XG Blade Switch - Cross links
Hi.
We have a c7000 blade with Onboard administrator and two HP ProCurve 6120XG Blade Switch.
I have read all the manuals from hp but having some misunderstood at the part about ISL.
In manual wrote HP ProCurve Series 6120 Blade Switches Installation and Getting Started Guide
"Ports 23 and 24 are each shared with inter-switch link ports on the blade switch's backplane.
Either the SFP+ port on the front panel or the backplane port can be active, but both can not
be active at the same time. The SFP+ port on the frontplane takes precedence: if it contains a
module, it is the active port and its corresponding backplane port is inactive."
and
"There are two 10 Gbps ports that can be individually selectable as front-panel SFP+ ports or
inter-switch links. The inter-switch link (ISL) is an internal port that connects to an identical
device in the adjacent interconnect bay in the c-class enclosure. This port is under the control
of both the switch and the Onboard Administrator (OA) for the c-class enclosure. The OA
automatically enables this port if an identical device is detected in the adjacent bay - there is
no user interface for controlling this port via the OA Web interface or CLI. Administrative
control of this port is only possible using the ProCurve switch CLI or web GUI. This port is
disabled by default in the ProCurve switch factory default configuration."
Connecting by ssh to the two 6120 is have this config:
ProCurve 6120XG Blade Switch# sh run
hostname "ProCurve 6120XG Blade Switch"
interface 23
disable
lacp Active
exit
interface 24
disable
lacp Active
exit
vlan 1
name "DEFAULT_VLAN"
untagged 1-24
ip address dhcp-bootp
exit
snmp-server community "public" unrestricted
spanning-tree
oobm
ip address dhcp-bootp
exit
Did I have to put Fiber SFP + 23 and 24 ports and connect each other? Or they are already connected internal and I need just to enabel 23 and 24 ports? I need to stacking two 6120XG and manage them as single node. Now is each of 6120XG is manage individually.
P.S. This thread has been moved from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to ProCurve / ProVision-Based . - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: HP ProCurve 6120XG Blade Switch - Cross links
How do you think these are going to "stack"?
I wasn't aware they stacked.
If you use ports 23 & 24 as uplinks, then their crosslink function is disabled. And vice-versa.
