HP Procurve Switch 400m Fiber Connection to HP Switch 2824

I am trying to connect, via fiber, an HP Procurve switch 4000 (J4121A) to HP Procurve Switch 2824 (J4903A).
Because the 4000 switch is older, do I need a converter (Fiber to Ethernet at 10/100 or 100/1000?) or could I purchase a card for the 4000 switch that will work with my minigbic 1000mg Switch 2824 fiber adapter?
