HP Procurve trunking questions

If I create a static trunk between two switches, does the trunk name need to be the same on both switches? Or can they be different? Does Trunk1 on Switch 1 have to go to another Trunk1 on Switch 2? Or can Trunk1 on Switch 1 go to Trunk7 on Switch 2?

Also, if I have a static trunk made up of 4 ports on Switch 1, can I spit these ports up between two switches? Can I have 3 of these ports going to a trunk on Switch 2 and 1 port going to a trunk on Switch 3?

Switch 1 - Trunk 1 --> Switch 2 - Trunk 3

Switch 1 - Trunk 1 --> Switch 3 - Trunk 7

Thank you!

No, it doesn't.

No, you can't (split).

Static (Non Protocol)/Dynamic (LACP) port aggregations (trunks in HPE jargon) must be coterminus (if you aren't speaking - as you do - about special trunking like DT-LACP Distributed Trunks LACP): they need to originate and terminate from/to one single switch (physical=logical).

There are some switching virtualization technologies/approaches that are able to overcome this essential requirement (as example Aruba/HPE VSF, VSX or old school DT-LACP).
