HP5406R ProCurve Switch crashed and reboot ?

Hi all,

Did anyone experience that HP5406R-B (ProCurve Switch) crashed and reboot automatically ?

What is the root cause ?

Rgds,

Chris

Yes, I've had this.

What do the logs say?

I've got that too, but can't see any hint in the logs.

K.15.15.0008 / K.15.30

Does anybody know why that could happen?

Do you send the logs to a syslog server?

If so, there must be some log lines that cover the time of the crash.

Do you have any HP switches on your network that do IRF?

Re: HP5406R ProCurve Switch crashed and reboot ?

No, I did not found any syslog entries.

We do not use IRF.

But I monitor the memory use of the switches.

The memory usage of both routing switches is still increasing. 10 % in 17 days (free memory: 53,680,080)

The memory usage of three access switches ist stable (free memory: 72,034,656).

Furthermore our ospf routing is working, but there are several warnings each day on both routing switches like:

02:46:28 02703 OSPF: ADJCHG: Neighbor with Router ID xx.xx.112.1 on vlan-48 moved to Down state - adjacency lost.

02:46:28 03132 OSPF: RECV: Discarding packet on interface vl48 : Unknown neighbor

02:46:43 02703 OSPF: ADJCHG: Neighbor with Router ID xx.xx.112.1 on vlan-48 moved to Full state - adjacency formed.

And I cannot explain why?
