j9538a 10GB SFP+ module connection issues.
I have a 5406 with the j9538a 8 PORT 10gb sfp+ module installed. I am using 487658-b21 10GB SFP+ cables to connect to J9008A 2Port 10GB module in a J9146A Procurve 2910 Switch.
When I plug the sfp cable into the 5406 I get a flashing orage link light.
When I plug it into the 2910 I get a green flashing link light..
All Switches are running the latest Firmware.
Any insight into what's going on here?
Thanks Chris.

Re: j9538a 10GB SFP+ module connection issues.
Hi Chris,
That would be an unsupported configuration, for a supported configuration you would need to use E-series DAC's. It should potentially work but there are no guarantees.
Just to make sure, on the 2910 you are using the SFP+ module in the back to connect eh DAC and not the SFP port in the front right.

Re: j9538a 10GB SFP+ module connection issues.
I'm not sure about E-series cables, but I am going to try the J9285B. I do have the SFP+ module installed in the back of the 2910 so we'll see what these new cables do for me.
Thanks for your input.
Chris

Re: j9538a 10GB SFP+ module connection issues.
Hi Chris,
The J9285B is an E-series cable and should work fine.
In the past HP differentiated in A, E, V, S -series and I'm kinda stuck there. The A-series woudl be Comware devices and E-series Provision, V-series I believe Value (low end web or unmanaged and S-series would be Security.
