Module compatibility between 8212zl and 5412zl
I have a fully populated 8212zl and want to share modules if they are compatible with 5412zl switch. I have 5412zl chassis and was wondering if 8212zl switch modules can be shared. I know power supplies are compatible. How about the modules?
Also 8212zl is listed as core/distribution switch on the HP's website. How about 5412zl? Is it considered core/distribution switch? Can I connect 8212zl and 5412zl to create redundancy for the network at the core layer?
The attached digram is the LAN that I'm trying to design with ProCurve 2510 as access switch.
Thanks.

Re: Module compatibility between 8212zl and 5412zl
Could somebody tell me the minimum number of power supply requirement, management module requirement, and system support module requirement for 5412zl?

Re: Module compatibility between 8212zl and 5412zl
There are some good FAQs for the 5412 at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportFAQ&lang=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64178&taskId=101&prodTypeId=12883&prodSeriesId=1827663.
5412 doesn't have hot-plug/redundant management, SSM and fabric modules like the 8212. So you only need to worry about PSUs. If you have a 5412, put in 4 x PSUs! If you only have 2 PSUs, you could have a config where the lower 6 bays are powered off if one PSU fails. There are also POE considerations.
