MULTICASTING Using IGMP - SETUP Layer 2 Only
Ref - 3com 4800G 48 port 3CRS48G
I am trying to setup a simple Multicast for the first time using 5 seperate 4800G switches on Layer 2 only as traffic is streaming TV Channels internally from a server.
It works when PC is connected directly to the same switch as the media server, although when I connect another pc to an alternative switch I get a blank screen. (using VLC Player).
In addition to this I connect the various switches using a 10Gig card on the back daisy chained. (No Loop back to first switch).
So Far I have setup up numerous configuration but basically I have setup as follows.
Multicast Routing on all switches
IGMP on all switches
Main switch 1 (media server attached) - IGMP Querier
Switch 2 - IGMP Snooping
Switch 3 - IGMP Snooping
Switch 4 - IGMP Snooping
Lastly I have created a static router port Vlan1 on each 10gig card back up the switches to the Main switch. (there is only 1 vlan) and No layer 3 router.
i have made no changes to the actual port from the media server
Any assistance would be much appreciated, as I'm at a loss now. thought this was a simple procedure.
Thanks in advance.
