Network Switch Procurve 2524
I have recently bought a ProCurve 2524 switch due to a friend having one and me always being in position only being able to connecting 1 network cable to 1 of my computers. It would also be beneficial to be able to use a switch for having Lan parties.
However on my friend's switch you didn't have to do any configuration. When I plugged in the procurve 2524 it didn't work. So apparantly I have to use the console port to configure the switch. Could you explain me briefly which cables I will need to connect the switch to my computer and in which order because I can't find it in the manual? Is it also possible to briefly state what the most noob-friendly way is to configure the switch.
Kind regards,
Anthony

Re: Network Switch Procurve 2524
Hi Anthony,
I'm under the impression that these switches will work straight out of the box from the factory in a limited fashion without any config. I'm guessing you might have bought it second hand and the switch was never set to factory defaults. Can you try following the process below and let us know if that is successful.
Clear/Reset: Resetting to the factory-default configuration
To execute the factory default reset, perform these steps:
Using pointed objects, simultaneously press both the Reset and Clear buttons on the front of the switch.
Continue to press the Clear button while releasing the Reset button.
When the Self Test LED begins to flash, release the Clear button.
The switch will then complete its self test and begin operating with the configuration restored to the factory default settings.
