Procurve 2610 excessive undersized/giant packets error on port 5
A customer reports that one of the ports on his Procurve 2610 is returning the error "too many underssized/giant packets on port 5.” The port is connected to a Kyocera 3500i printer. Is there an explanation of the error and a resolution?

Re: Procurve 2610 excessive undersized/giant packets error on port 5
I wouldn't be surprised if the printer NIC is set to half-duplex due to a failed negotiation.
What is your switchport config? Is it set to auto/auto?
Ditto with the printer NIC config.

Re: Procurve 2610 excessive undersized/giant packets error on port 5
Hi,
It looks like this can be also a FW bug of the switch
Version R.11.56
Event Log (PR_0000049241)
- The switch's event log displays erroneous FFI Excessive undersized/giant packets messages on ports operating at 10 Mbps, half duplex (10Hdx).
https://h10145.www1.hp.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=J9086A
If the switch is running an earlier release than R.11.56 and the port condition applies I would update. The latest releas is R.11.98.
