Hi

By default the switch is a console client. The instructions above are for setting a fixed IP address.

How to console in:

1. Connect a console cable between your client and the switch

2. Configure your console client with the following settings:

- Speed 9600

- 8 data bits

- 1 stop bit

- no parity

- no flow control (actually this depends on the switch model, but should work with all)

3. Open a console connection

I'd suggest using either PuTTy or Tera Term Pro for console client. Hyperterminal has some quirks of its own.

And another question. On DHCP server shows that the switch is hooked IP address, but this address is not pinged.

Hi

Test another software client, another console cable and another hardware client.

When you try to open the console connection, it may be that you do not see any output on the terminal window. Hit Enter a few times, that may help. And, again, I wouldn't use Hyperterminal, I've seen it so many times ending up in not displaying console output.

If none of the above helps, open a console session and then restart the switch with Reset button. This usually helps.

For the pinging ensure your client PC is in the same VLAN and subnet with the switch management IP address, preferably diretly connected to exclude network problems.

Any of the above may fail. We've had issues with management connectivity which are resolved with current software versions. Reset button is again normally the workaround to regain connectivity.
