Procurve 2824 web interface problem
Hi all,
after Firmwareupdate to the newest (I.07.56), i´ve got the problem, that i can´t access the switches via webbrowser.
When connecting to the switch, it seems, that something wants to start (the blue progress line grows), but i got no further response and the browser screen stays blank. I´ve tried it with several browsers (IE 5.5, 6.0, firefox) and with the use of Jave VM (1.4) and from several client PC. That all works fine before flashing the firmware.
Telnet-access is possible. The web-agent is active. Reboot of the switch doesnt help.
Any Id
P.S. This thread has been moved from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to ProCurve / ProVision-Based. - Hp Forum moderator

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
This is more or less a known issue at HP-Procurve. They are currently working on a fix for this but they were not able to tell when the fix is gonna be ready.
The advice was to not use Webmanagement for the moment, because if you downgrade you get other problems back that are fixed in I.07.56. I know this was not the answer you were looking for but atleast you know you are not alone and like me you are stuck unfortunatly.

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
so i´ve just to wait for the next firmware upgrade :-(.
I can´t believe it, that this funktionality have been overseen during testing at HP.
Ok, i like to work with CLI and an NMS, but
for just getting a quick view, the webinterface is pretty good. If its working....

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
What firmware are you running on the 2650 and the 53xx? I would first upgrade to the latest firmware. If you are running the latest codes then it would be interesting to know what Java version and OS incl. patches you have tried?

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
Just flashed the new firmware I.07.60 on a 2850 but there was no improvement regarding the "hang".
Talked to HP support and they told me to checke the build by entering the command "show version" at the CLI prompt in the 2650 with the I.07.56 firmware. The build should be 16281. The "previous" release on their website should be with the new build.
Checked this and amazing reflashed switch has another build (1628). The problem is gone. Checked with a non working 2850 and there the build is different.
So the temporary solltion would be if you do not need the fixes from 07.60 to reflash the 07.56 firmware and again wait for a new firmware newer then 07.60.

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
thats quite interessting, cause i´ve downloaded the 7.62 firmware last week from HP´s Business Support Center (European site).
And it´s already there as the latest available Version.
I´ve read here in the forum about newer firmware-versions (up to 8.55!), but i stÃll haven´t found it on HP´s sites.
Could you describe the issue of 7.62?
Till now, i´ve no proble

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
When I first saw that HP pulled 7.62, I emailed HP and this is the answer I got.
I.07.62 is stable code and was pre-released to support. Discussing this with another engineer here, you are correct that there is an issue with it which is why they pulled it. The issue is a boot Rom issue where once you load I.07.62 you can not backrev the Flash or else you may experience some problems. This is a minor bug and since you have already upgraded, it is not something to be overly concerned with. Please do not Backrev the flash so you can avoid any problems. Like I said I.07.62 is stable in all other respects so there isnâ t anything to worry about unless you really needed to backrev the code. Talking with the Lab they are expecting to release I.07.64 within a week.
Supposedly with 7.62, if you try to back-rev to an earlier build, you could run into some problems. I only mentioned it because it is a common practice to back-rev code when troubleshooting a new issue thought to be related to the new code.
7.64 has been available to the North American consumer since October and 8.55 is available as well.

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
Indeed, on US-site i´ve found now the new fw-releases.
Since i´ve no more problems with 7.62 (and so i don´t have a reason to go backwards) i´ll take a look on the release notes of 8.55 for eventually upgrading later.
thanks again so far.

Re: Procurve 2824 web interface problem
Hello All,
Sorry to bump such an old topic. But this is the problem i'm facing.
Webbrowser stays blank, but in my case, console cable, ssh or telnet is not possible either. The switch takes a dhcp address as I am told by my router but the switch simply won't respond to anything.
So I cannot lookup firmware versions.
Is there a way to send a firmware file to the switch, forcing it to update? Or to revert to a version which I can manage? At this moment there is no management available at all.....
Thanks for any help.
