Procurve - Spanning Tree
Good afternoon,
Hoping to get some direction on an issue we are having.
Our vendor is using a Juniper SRX650, we’ve had them configure a port on the Juniper to support a stretched VLAN for DR purposes. When we plug it into our HP Procurve 5412zl, the interface on the juniper shuts down due to spanning tree. We’ve taken the 5412zl out of the loop and used a Juniper switch (configured with the required VLAN) and it works. Our vendor has suggested that it’s the 5412zl causing the issue. Any idea what I should look at to address the issue?
Thanks,
E.D.

Re: Procurve - Spanning Tree
On such links, simply don't use STP. This is a single uplink, so there's no risk in creating a loop.
Running STP on such a link might overthrow STP root selection when link goes down/up.
Enable BPDU filter on the 5412zl port connecting to the Juniper.

Re: Procurve - Spanning Tree
I'll give it a shot and report back. Many thanks!
