Redundancy between Two Different Uplinks

Hello all,

I have an HP 3500 24 port Procurve access switch installed in a remote building. This building is connected by Fiber Optic cable to the corporate network. I want to have redundancy for this building via satellite network.

The setup is that I have this switch connected to a router via fiber optic cable (this is the uplink). I am connecting a satellite modem on the switch and tagging that port to VLAN X. What I want to have is that if the main uplink goes down, i.e. fiber optic cable, I want the backup link to take over, i.e.. satellite modem.

However, I do not want to implement routing on the switch (two static routes, one with a higher metric). Also, the satellite modem is very primitive and cannot implement VRRP nor LACP.

Thank you.
