I'm trying to have PoE everywhere in my school district. I replaced an old HP6600 switch with a new Aruba 2530 (J9772a). The gbic from the 6600 (J9150a) worked fine in the 6600 and in some older 2530s (J9853a), but doesn't want to work in the new 2530. When I insert the gbic in the new switch, the left green light comes on solid before I even plug in the fiber. Then, when I do plug in the fiber, no lights change and the port still shows as down. Do I need a newer gbic for the newer switch?

Re: Replaced HP6600 with Aruba 2530, now the gbic doesn't seem to work
Hello stonesmith,
Please use the following document for the transceivers for aruba models(includes J9722a):
ArubaOS-Switch and ArubaOS-CX Transceiver Guide (Edition 10) (hpe.com)
Please check if the transceivers are compatible with your device on the following link (does not include J9722a):
Aruba 2530 Switch Series - Option Parts (hpe.com)
Hope this helps!

Thank you, Alex. I'm going to order the one from your documentation and see if that fixes it.

SolutionAs reference have a look at currently marketed Aruba 2530: https://www.arubanetworks.com/it/prodotti/switch/accesso/2530-series/
no model has SFP+ support...so take care your "old" HP 2530.

Re: Replaced HP6600 with Aruba 2530, now the gbic doesn't seem to work
That's very interesting. We had some of our older 2530s destroyed in a flood, so I ordered some new 2530s for the insurance claim. I guess I should have done more due diligence. It never occurred to me that a newer 2530 would be less capable than an older one. These are edge switches, though; so I think 1Gbps will be ok. Thank you for that information.
