Route Summarization

Route Summarization

I am currently using RIPV2 and would like to summarize our routes since our routing tables are becoming overwhelming. I know the auto-summary feature must be enabled but do I also need to define the network prior to doing this? I have never done it on a HP switch before. Model: 5400ZL

Re: Route Summarization

Hello,

you can only use "auto summarization" which will summarize to a classfull network. as far as I know there is no configurable summary address:

see MRG for more details:

Auto-summary

– Status of Auto-summary for all interfaces running RIP. If auto-summary is enabled, then subnets will be summarized to a class network when advertising outside of the given network.

Cheers,

Re: Route Summarization

I have used auto-summary on most if not all of my configurations. I never saw it actually summarize anything. I also tried using only redistribute static with a /16 address for example: ip route 10.50.0.0/16 10.255.1.1 to summarize a network and it still does not yield any results. I have yet to hear any answer from HP on resolving this or if it's possible.
