Setting custom motd on Procurve 2524

Is it possible to set a custom banner/motd on a HP Procurve 2524 switch?

#banner motd does not seem to be a valid command.

yes. you need to execute it in the global config mode though

switch(config)# banner motd ^ test ^

I find that the answer you gave for this question not to be true. I've tried every way I can think of to run the "banner motd #" command on a 2524/2512 switch and got nothing.
