Setting up a VLAN on a procurve 2810-48G
Hi, I need to setup a very simple vlan on my switch. The VLAN will only consist of 4 ports. I've gone in to the switch configuration and then gone in to VLAN config on the web interface and it appears all i have to do is setup a second VLAN (there is already a default VLAN) and add the ports that I want part of the VLAN. Is that really all that needs to be done? How do I need to mark the ports that will be on the vlan? I'm not exactly understanding the difference between tagged, untagged and forbidden.
P.S. This thread has been moevd from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to ProCurve / ProVision-Based. - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: Setting up a VLAN on a procurve 2810-48G
Yes that's all you need to do if you just want the VLAN on that switch.
In very simple terms you untag a VLAN on a port if there is a client (PC or other host) on the end of it.
If it's a link to a switch, you tag the VLAN on that port (and then tag it on the port that it connects to on the other switch)
