Spanning-tree between HP 8212zl and Cisco 3750

Hey,

I have this weird quesiton hope someone has more experience on HP than me can answer:

I have Rapid-PVST running on HP 8212zl, which is fine so far with rest of my Cisco on network. Now as we setup the new IaaS environment, we are thinking about migrate to MST. However as the production network is too large to be migrated in one shot, we are thinking about running MST on the IaaS Cisco 3750 while keeping the Rapid-PVST on 8212zl for phase 1 of the migration.

There are articles on Internet talking about MST will work with Rapid-PVST between switches, but that is just on Cisco platform; there are also aticles talking about MST on HP to work with RPVST on Cisco. But none of them talk about my scenario.

So my question is: will RPVST on HP compitible with MST on Cisco?

A few years back HP released a guide on ProCurve & Cisco Spanning Tree Interoperability (Google for those keywords and you should find it). If my memory serves me correctly, it didn't cover Rapid-PVST, though. As long as your RPVST looks like RSTP as far as your MST is concerned, it should work, but i would recommend testing this thoroughly before attempting to migrate a production environment.
