Suppress logging of port changes

HP2910-al series - model J9146A version #W.14.38

Trying to prevent alarms when edge ports go down.  I have included

    no snmp-server enable traps link-change 1-21

which seems to be working correctly, but we are still getting syslog messages when the ports are disconnected.  I have tried adding

   no logging system-module ports

using command prompting in config mode.  The command is accepted, but  it does not appear to

work.  We still see syslog messages when any port is shut down.  Also, if I do "show config", the

"no logging system-module ports" is not visible in the configuration.

What am I missing?
