Re: Trunk form procurve 2910al to Extreme 450e
Hey Vince,
Im back and mad ...
So I had to update all my Procurve Switches to the latest firmware, everything seemed to go fine and I rebooted them all.
I have a stack of 3.
However after doing so suddenly the wireless stopped workin, I though that this might just be that the extreme switch neede to be rebooted, however after rebooting twice no dice.
From a laptop connected to the Extreme switch i could once again ping all the way to the firewall, but not out past the firewall.
none of the settings seemed to change since the update of the procurev switches.
The commander switch that i have the extreme plugged into via port 21 still showed vlan2 with ip 192.168.3.11 and still showed the port tagged.
The extreme showed vlan2 with port 21 tagged.
I self assigned the laptop with ip 192.168.3.244 -
So I thought i would trash the wireless vlan on both devices and start again.
After rebuilding them on both, i can no longer ping from the Extreme switch to the HP switch at 192.168.3.11
however from the laptop I can ping all the way to the firewall but still not out.
Any ideas?
thanks

Re: Trunk form procurve 2910al to Extreme 450e
Hey so an update
Its driving me bananas
So to verify that there wasnt anything funky on the extreme i did a full factory reboot
The only configuration i did on that switch was
Add vlan wireless
tag vlan wireless 2
add port 21 tagged
add port 1-16 untagged
tagged port 21 on default vlan 1
didnt add any routes or enable ipforwarding.
From a laptop plugged into the switch in port 1 - I can ping to firewall 199.95.137.1/HP switch 199.95.137.13/VLAN2 on hp switch 192.168.3.11
However I cannot ping past the firewall.
Firewall settings remain the same which has a static route to the HP switch
HP settings
trashed the origonal vlan 2
re added the vlan with port 21 tagged
see config below
ip default-gateway 199.95.137.1 ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 199.95.135.1 ip routing
interface 21 name "EXTREME ULINK" exit
vlan 1 name "DEFAULT_VLAN" untagged 22-24,33-48,A1,Trk1,Trk3,Trk6-Trk7 tagged 21 ip address 199.95.137.13 255.255.255.0 exit vlan 2 name "wireless" tagged 21 ip address 192.168.3.11 255.255.255.0 exit no autorun

Re: Trunk form procurve 2910al to Extreme 450e
Reboot the main switch, reboot the firewall and then plug in the extreme? could something be hung up from when i rebooted the main switch earlier?

Re: Trunk form procurve 2910al to Extreme 450e
After rebooting HP switch and its 2 stacked switches, unable to get out from firewall on extreme switch
on vlan2 wireless, didnt have extreme switch off when i rebooted the main switch.
Then when we realised couldnt get out on the wireless vlan Tried rebooting Extreme several times still nothing
Reset Extreme to factory settings and setup vlan 2 again
deleted vlan 2 from HP switch and then readded it.
Still cannot get out - see pingable addresses below
Only thing that i havnt tried since rebuilding the vlans on both switches is rebooting the main HP switch or rebooting firewall.
here is the current setup
Firewall Sonicwall NSA3500 -- 199.95.137.1 - connected to port on HP switch
Firewall -- 199.95.137.1
