Two 5400R management interface
Hello,
I have two HPE 5400R with one management module each. I would like to have one management IP address to configure both devices. In addition, if one management module fails or management cable is disconnected, I would like the other management module replies for configuration.
I've tried with two configuration:
- First configuration:
oobm
ip address 10.31.228.226 255.255.255.0
vsf member 1
no ip address
exit
vsf member 2
no ip address
exit
exit
Results: When I disconnect the management cable from the member 1, I can't access to the management interface. There is no icmp replies either.
- Second configuration:
oobm
no ip address
vsf member 1
ip address 10.31.228.225 255.255.255.0
exit
vsf member 2
ip address 10.31.228.226 255.255.255.0
exit
exit
CORE(oobm)# show oobm ip vsf member 1
IPv4 Status : Disabled
IPv4 Default Gateway :
| Address Interface
VSF-member | IP Config IP Address/Prefix Length Status Status
---------- + --------- ------------------------- -------- ---------
1 | disabled 10.31.228.225/24 Active Up
CORE(oobm)# show oobm ip vsf member 2
IPv4 Status : Disabled
IPv4 Default Gateway :
| Address Interface
VSF-member | IP Config IP Address/Prefix Length Status Status
---------- + --------- ------------------------- -------- ---------
2 | manual 10.31.228.226/24 Active Up
Results: I can't access to any management IP address. However, There is ICMP replies from 10.31.228.226.
I don't know what are the best practices and the best configuration with two 5400R and one management module each.
Any recomendation?
Thanks, best regards.
David.
