VLANS and RPVST

Hi,

I am configuring an HP2930M stack (5 switches).

I have 6 VLANs:

Default: 1 (192.168.1..254) - Assigned to 2 ports but not connected to anything.

VOICE: 100 (no IP assigned) - connected to router 1, port 0 -tagged on both ends.

Data: 254 (172.12.1.1) - - Connected to router 1, port 1 - tagged on both ends.

Wireless: 1001 (no IP assigned) - Conntected to wireless router (router 2) - no VLAN on wireless router but untagged VLAN 1001 on the switch port it connects to.

MPLS Data: VLAN 255. Not connected.

MPLS Voice: VLAN 266. Not connected.

We now have a new line (on router 3) and wish to connect it to the network as well. The device is managed by a 3rd party. Port 1 on the device is for MPLS Data and port 2 for MPLS voice. traffic is coming down from both ports untagged.

We have RPVST enabled on the switch.

I have configured a port (4/47) on the switch so that  VLAN 255 is untagged (and I believe therefore default). I then plugged the DATA cable from router 3 (new router into it). I then configured port 4/42 simillarly (VLAN 255 Untagged) and plugged a PC into it. However, it didn't work and the network was not picked up. I then turned of RVSTP on the switch and it worked fine. Is this because both VLAN 255 and VLAN 1001 receive untagged traffic (even though they are from different devices)? I would like to be able to leave RPVSTenabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also suspect I will face a simillar problem with RPVST when connecting the second MPLS VOICE connection (VLAN 256) from router 3.

I have tried to trunk port 4/47 by adding it to trunk group Trk1 and making the TRK1 group untagged VLAN 255 but this hasn't helped.

Thanks.
