VRRP config on a pair of 8320s with VSX enabled

Bit of a newbie with ArubaOS-CX

I have a pair of Aruba 8320s as my new core switches connected using VSX to create a single virtual switch

I now want to configure VRRP to utilise 2 x new Virginmedia inter-campus links (1 as primary, one as failover) so:

  • 10Gb connection utilises Port 5 on the Primary 8320
  • 1Gb connection utlises Port 5 on the Secondary 8320
  • Both to belong to VLAN50 with an IP of 10.50.0.1/27 that the other campuses on our network use to route to our campus
  • 1Gb connection to kick in should the 10Gb fail

Just looking for the correct VRRP configuration to make this happen

Hi Dave,

I advise you to take a look at the active-gateway functionality of VSX, which eliminates the VRRP requirement. It provides a default-gateway VIP and both VSX nodes are replying to the ARP request with the same VMAC.

Here the VSX best practices:

Hope this helps.
