HPE recognised as a Top Employer
HPE has been awarded the Top Employers South Africa certification for 2021, acknowledging excellence in employee working practices.
Top Employers Institute recognises excellence in the practices of organisations around the world and this certification is a huge step forward for HPE, demonstrating their commitment and active drive for investing in their workforce.
HPE is proud of its people strategies, focusing on opening up access and giving opportunities to team members. A number of initiatives have been effectively implemented, supporting the success in attaining this certification. These include:
- The โWork that fits your lifeโ programme, which offers six months of paid parental leave to new mothers and fathers.
- Wellness initiatives focusing on financial, nutritional and mental wellbeing to offer practical advice and assistance.
- Volunteering hours to allow staff paid time off to contribute to charitable projects.
- A virtual wellness walking challenge to promote camaraderie and offer a collective goal to work towards.
- A range of employee resource groups including a wellness network and a womensโ network that now extends outside of HPE, welcoming women in the wider IT business world.
These programmes demonstrate HPEโs commitment to focusing on their people, alongside the important work they do.
New opportunities whilst remote working
The shift to remote working in 2020 offered many opportunities to support staff in different ways, using digital platforms and implementing an โEdge to officeโ programme. These initiatives ensure lines of communication remain open and support is fully maintained throughout the ongoing extended period away from the physical office. Staff wellbeing is a top priority for HPE, especially through tough times, and this certification marks the beginning of a renewed commitment to excellence in caring for and investing in HPEโs people.
President Ntuli, MD of HPE South Africa said, โAt HPE we believe in the value of investing in and supporting our people. There is so much good work that goes on enriching the workplace and creating a supportive and encouraging environment, so I am delighted that we have been certified as a Top Employer.โ
Achieving excellence
As part of the certification process, Top Employers Institute highlighted areas that HPE excelled in, including:
- Values
- Ethics
- Diversity and inclusion
- Sound business and people strategies
Attracting and retaining talented people lies at the heart of HPEโs vision, and as a Top Employer, they can now stand out further as an employer of choice.
