Re: add redeuntant switch to MSA1000

Those switches are completely independent from each other and they should not be linked together.
Redundancy on the MSA1000 is achieved by:

- using two controller modules

- two switches (or two I/O modules with external switches)

- servers with two Fibre Channel ports
-- two single-port adapters or
-- one dual-port adapter

- multipath software in the operating system to
handle redundant and failed paths

Yes, the switch is only connected to its corresponding MSA controller module on the front of the base unit.

Re: add redeuntant switch to MSA1000

Hello Uwe,
I have an MSA1000 (active/passive) with two controllers and one switch,I want to add a second switch, the MSA1000 is serving disks to a pair of servers with two fiber channel connections each, how shall proceed to configure the whole thing so I have full redundancy...??
Right now I have the four fc connections in the original switch and all units are configured in preferred path to controller 1.

Thanks.
