Adding second HBA connection
Hi,
We have the following situatiion. Please guide.
1. SUN E2900 have 2 HBAs
2. First HBA was connected to 1st SAN switch to EVA when we installed Securepath and configured VDISKs presented.
3. 2nd HBA was connected to RAID ARRAY HSG80
4. 2nd HBA has been now disconned from old SAN HSG80
5. We want to connect 2nd HBA to new EVA SAN
What is the procedure to configure 2nd HBA connected to 2nd switch to same EVA. The server is in production right now and three VDISKs are mounted.
Thanks
Javeed

Re: Adding second HBA connection
first backup all the files that are modified by Securepath (qla2300.conf, drivers_aliases, sd.conf, hwsx.conf, etc)
AFter that, run spconfig -o so the files be modified to make the new card work.
Regards

Re: Adding second HBA connection
Hi Javeed,
First you need to see if secound HBA and its driver revision is supported with EVA.
I assume that the driver for the secound adapter is allready installed.
Secound step is to install SecurePath (you have alredy done this).
third step is to configure zoning (if you use zoning)so that switch port on the secound switch can where you will connect secound HBA can see EVA controller ports.
fourth setp is to attach the cable from the secound HBA to switch.
Then you can configure in Secure Path what LUN will go throuh what HBA.

Re: Adding second HBA connection
One more step, You need to tell the EVA that this HBA can access the LUNs.
In the EVA command view..
Open the host entry and add a port, find the WWN of the new HBA and add it. The eva will now know that both HBA's belong to the same host and the host's LUN should be made avaqilable to both HBAs
