Anyone upgraded EVA3000 to EVA4000?
Folks,
Please advice. Below is my current env:
- EVA3000 controller
- Diskarray
- fabric switch with zones for both the Windows and HP-UX
My plan is to only upgrade EVA3000 to EVA4000. The other components will not be touched. I do not know whether I have to redo the zonings, lun presentations... Anyone who has been through this please advice. Thanks.

Re: Anyone upgraded EVA3000 to EVA4000?
Hi, data-in-place upgrades are possible, check here:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/eva/qa.html
The EVA 4000 or 4100 works in Active/Active mode, while the EVA 3000 works in Active/Pasive or Active/Active, depending on firmware.
Changing from Active/Passive to Active/Active controllers can mean changing the multipath software on the servers. I would need to know exactly what you have to check compatibility tables.
All the EVA configuration (disk groups, vdisks, hosts and presentations) remains on the disks.
It is well explained here:
