Backups on EVA or MSA.
Can anyone post their backup scheme for windows boxes that have datastores on EVA or MSA. I am currently trying to figure out the best way for us to change our backup scheme which is direct attatched LTO tape drives via LVD scsi. This is fast but I want to get to a all san backup scheme and start utilizing our Media Library. I dont think snapshots or snapcloes will help me do what I want since snapshots dont let me restore fast the entire database and snapclones use alot of controller process and are slower than tape.
Here is what Ive been thinking of doing.
6 servers on EVA, 6 Servers on MSA
Use Arcserve Backup r12 SAN Option and Disk Staging.
12 Servers backup streaming from Disk to Disk Luns via Fiber Switch and Archive to tape library on fiber. A media server will be used to handle all fiber connections and archival to tape library while managing all jobs.
I could implement EVA Snapshots to the media server and backup to disk to tape if I needed a really small backup window on the 4 database servers. This wont work for the rest of the file share servers.
