Made the mistake of trying to install SP1 on a HP Proliant DL380 G4 Storage Server. Of course, I found this advisory *after* hosing things: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00616839
I suppose I'll have to call HP. Thought I might get a solution quicker here.

The script in that zip attachment did the trick! Thanks!
Be it known that I called HP Support and was told to use the Windows Recovery DVD to reinstall Windows. I asked if it would leave all configuration in place and was assured that it would. However, the documentation says all data will be erased. This is exactly why I posted here.
