Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Hi Everyone, I have a C7000 blade enclosure that has 2 brocade san switches inserted.
I am not able to login to the management console through OA, due to credential issues.

how can i reset the san switches to default configuration if I dont know the credentials?

Hello,

can you access the switches with a serial console or/and do you have the ip-settings of the switches? Do you tried the root account?

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Nabil,

Do not use the Brocade factory default reset!

Telnet to your OA IP address. At the OA cli do a

connect interconnect 3

3 = interconnect bay number

Do you know the username and password from the Brocade logon prompt? If these are brand new switches the default is username = admin and password = password
If the password has been losted, contact HP for Brocade password recovery steps. This will require connecting to the internal serial port. This is done by getting first to the OA cli as described above.
The 4/24 has no external serial port.

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Hi Terri,
I connected through telnet to the interconnect bay where the switch is located and I was able to login to the switch, but when I open the management console of the switch through the OA I get a log in Failed error though I am using the same default usernames I used to login through telnet
(admin, root, fatory, user).
Any idea why I am not able to login to the management console of the switch??

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Enter the IP address of the Brocade switch in a browser (don't go through the OA). Do you get the same logon prompt?
What is the actual error?

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Yes Terri I get the same prompt when I open the console from a new browser not through OA. After inserting the password for the first 2 times I get nothing but to insert the password again, but after entering the password for the 3rd time I get a login failed message.

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

What Brocade firmware is running on this switch? 5.3? 6.x?
And is the actual error message "Login failure"?

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Have you tried telnet from the LAN directly to the switch ip address.

Re: Brocade 4/24 SAN Switch reset to default settings

Agree with last posting. You will need to contact HP to get this resolved.
But it won't be a Brocade password recovery process if you are able to login to the switch via the cli. HP has to figure out why the management console = Brocade Web Tools won't accept the same credentials as the command line.
