Steps to recreate:
1. Downloaded v5.3.0c.tar.gz from HP website
2. Untarred it on ftp server.
3. Logged in on Brocade.
4. Ran firmwaredownload.
5. Firmware download aborted.
Transcript of breakage:

Re: Brocade 48000 firmware upgrade failure
Hello Tim,
Try "File Name: /sw/vendor/Brocade/v5.3.0c/release.plist" instead of "File Name: /sw/vendor/Brocade/v5.3.0c"
Good Luck

Re: Brocade 48000 firmware upgrade failure
Are you running redundant CPs in your Director? If so, you need to have an IP address on each of the CPs in addition to the FC switch address. The download is failing because there is no network connectivity to your standby CP.
An ipaddrshow will confirm the addresses that are configured on your switch and CPs.
